While in full time employment I wished I could have done more to add to village life. On becoming semi retired I was able to do that and became involved in organising the first Illogan Parish Fun Day, an event which I hope will run for many years, I also restarted litter picks around the village which are now run on a regular basis by the Events Committee. Currently I am leading the Light Up Illogan working party which is being supported by the Events Committee with a view to providing additional decorations around the village and Christmas themed workshop for both children and adults. I am the secretary of the popular Illogan Parish Fair Group and also sit on two other committees associated with the village.
Having lived in the village all my life, I would like to see more done to maintain it’s history, provide details about the village history and preserve it’s traditions such as Illogan Feast Day.
I would like to influence local decisions which make a meaningful impact to the village. I worked for a few months as the parish administration assistant to cover a period of maternity leave and this has given me an insight into the processes of running a parish council. It is that experience combined with my energy and commitment to the village that is home, that I hope will be of benefit to the parish council and the Illogan community.
